All Mortal Shell 2 Night Mode secrets and changes

Adding a new spin to the soulslike formula, Mortal Shell 2 allows players to up the stakes and boost the HP and DMG of all enemies with Night Mode.

But that’s not all the new difficulty brings, with a few areas and secrets only being available under the guise of night. Here are all of the Night Mode secrets and changes in Mortal Shell 2 (or at least all we could find).

All Mortal Shell 2 Night Mode secrets and changes

In addition to its HP and DMG scaling effects, all enemies in Night Mode reward you with increased Gloom upon being defeated. If visited again, the areas where you met each Shell will also feature extra Glimpses, while The Collector will set up shop at the Abandoned Outpost Beacon in the Deserted Slums. He will sell you the following items:

• Fulminant Stone (1500 Coins)
• Infested Stone (1500 Coins)
• Weeping Stone (1500 Coins)
• Infused Stone (1500 Coins)
• 3x Glimpse (500 Coins each)
• 2x Thoracium (2500 Coins each)
• 1x Blackmarrow Key (1500 Coins)

A new dungeon, featuring a first-person peek at the Mortal Shell 2 world, will also become available in Shrine of Sorrows. Visiting The Forgotten Tower then allows you to get the Seedbearer’s Scripture by offering the Thawed, Depleted, and Faded Glands to the revered corpse, while heading to the spot where you found Genessa’s Sester’s Sencer at Revenant Graves unlocks a new duo boss (Gloomboom Ritualists) and three extra Glimpses.

Upon interacting with the giant mushroom and entering the dungeon, make your way forward until you spot a cabin. Don’t head in just yet. Instead, go to the right and follow the cliffside to spot a Ventrium. From there, return and head left toward a well before lighting both the candles below and one by its stone chest to unlock it and get one Dorsalite.

Now it’s time to actually clear the dungeon, something you can do by entering the cabin and following the steps below. Completing it will net you one extra Blackmarrow Key and one Touch of Noche.

1. Interact with the cauldron inside to get the Tempered Iron Key.
2. Use the key to open the first room by the hall.
3. Interact with the body inside to get the Moonlight Sonata.
4. Enter the now-open room on the left.
5. Grab the Sunlight Sonata from the floor.
6. Place both books at the ritual table by the coffin.
7. Enter the previously closed area in the yard, featuring a large tree.
8. Face the impaled head there before spinning around, looking at it again, and repeating the process one more time.
9. Once transported to the new area, head forward to grab the Starlight Sonata from the grave.
10. Follow the eighth step one more time to return to the shack.
11. Head to the altar at the cabin and place the third book to get an Alluring Mushroom.
12. Grab the mushroom.
13. Add the ingredient to the cauldron and drink.
14. Enter the shack again and pick up the Basement Key.
15. Use the key on the red-light-emitting door and head down to see the witches’ ritual.
16. Examine the area before turning around to be transported back and clear the Shrine of Sorrows dungeon.

Thawed Gland location

As shown in the Forgotten Tower map, Mortal Shell 2 players can find the Thawed Gland in the Conquered Temple Gate. To do that, follow the dungeon’s starting path until you cross the traversal gate. Now, continue forward before ignoring the path on the right in favor of the crevice below:

After crossing it, enter the room on the left by the Subjugated Sentry to find the gland on a pedestal. Use either Sester Cerresa, Tiel, or a fully Frost-resistant Eredrim to make your job easier.

Faded Gland location

You can reach the Faded Gland by heading down and grabbing it from its altar, located below the Fated Citadel’s (Gate of Infinity) Citadel Annex Beacon. Just be warned, the area will feature multiple enemies capable of overwhelming you and one-shotting lower HP shells.

Depleted Gland location

The easiest among the three to spot, you can find the Depleted Gland in Mortal Shell 2 by turning around after dropping into the platform you must fall from to face the Hexapod in the Withered Shoals. To reach the gate, clear the Gate of Mammon beacon.
