Valkyria Chronicles deploys July 26, announced for mobile

Last month brought some interesting news to light regarding the future of Sega’s beloved SRPG franchise with the reveal of a free-to-play card-battling strategy game by the name of Valkyria Chronicles Duel. The announcement was somewhat vexing and served to provoke an already irate fan-base upset by the series’ abandonment of the PlayStation 3 and Sega’s refusal to bring the third entry to Western territories.

Today, Andriasang reports that the browser-based spin-off title will available next week via NHN Japan’s Han Games service on July 26th. An Android version is set to go live come July 30th with an iOS version to follow next month. Even if it’s a far cry from what we wanted, I’m happy the series isn’t dead and am always interested in getting my hands on a new Valkyria Chronicles game. Sega has yet to disappoint, at least in terms of producing quality software, so here’s to being (very) cautiously optimistic.
