Indie ARPG Shadow Dungeon is off to a solid start, and you can pick from four different classes. All four classes have different playstyles, and each has its own strength and weakness.

Complete Shadow Dungeon class tier list
To separate the classes, I have used two different tiers.
- S-tier classes are the best choices for all types of players.
- A-tier classes are close to S-tier choices, but you’ll need to spend more effort to master their kits.

S-tier
- Necromancer: In a single-player game, the Necromancer class creates a unique playstyle. You can summon foot soldiers to aid you on your battles. The class also offers decent range and damage that combines well with your minions. Having the minions fight with you gives a tremendous advantage, and more so against mobs. You can use them to engage the enemy and then keep hitting from the distance.
- Paladin: Paladin is the most beginner-friendly class. It comes with a massive shield to protect yourself from dangerous situations. You can also turn the Paladin into a pure tank with the correct equipment which makes him practically unkillable. The Paladin offers a lot of room for learning the basic and advanced concepts of the game.
A-tier
- Mage: The Mage is an alternative to the Necromancer if you want to rely on magic. The class has immense crowd control abilities that dish out a ton of AoE damage. Clearing the map is straightforward with the Mage, but the class struggles against bosses. You’ll need to keep your distance since health isn’t your strongest asset.
- Ranger: This is the class with the greatest range, and you can kill enemies even before they see you. However, the Ranger’s health is a major headache, and some AoE abilities require several skill points. The Ranger will require you to invest time to learn about positioning and general enemy attack patterns.
