‘…We thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now’

After Gran Turismo 6 was officially unveiled as a PlayStation 3 game due out later this year, many of us wondered if there wasn’t something Polyphony Digital was leaving out — something, anything about a possible PlayStation 4 version. There was! And some of your theories were correct.

Speaking to IGN, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi said “We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.” If (when?) this happens, the option to transfer progress between the two versions of GT6 would “probably” be offered.

“I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates,” he continued. “Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.”
