The crowdfunding campaign for Shadow of Eternals, the long-awaited spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, has begun. The title is being developed by Precursor Games, a new studio formed last year from the ashes of Silicon Knights, which hopes to raise $1,500,000 to fund this follow-up to their 2002 GameCube cult classic.

Like its predecessor, Shadow of the Eternals follows multiple characters across various time periods and settings as a central protagonist attempts to piece together a mystery that is at the crux of these intertwining stories.

Shadow of the Eternals will be released as a series of twelve episodic releases for Wii U and PC. Head over to the title’s crowdfunding page if you’d like to contribute to the project. Additionally, you can check out a nine-minute gameplay demo and chat with Denis Dyack over at IGN. A word of warning, Precursor Games isn’t using Kickstarter or Indiegogo for the campaign. If for whatever reason things don’t go according to plan backers and their investments will be at the mercy of Dyack and company.
