All major changes in FC 27 Career Mode

The changes made to the Career mode in FC 27 will revolve around the following points.

  • Transfer Market
  • Dynamic OVR
  • Creator Challenges
  • Rivalries

Transfer Market

Until now, the transfer market in FC titles has not been too complex. In some ways, you can even call it unrealistic because the number of features available to us has always been limited.

That changes in FC 27, as EA Sports has partnered with TransferRoom. TransferRoom is a real-life organization where many clubs work to locate their next target. A great feature of Transfer Room is the xTV, which stands for Expected Transfer Value. Just like in real life, you will be able to figure that out when you scout a talent to bring over to your club. While the xTV might not always be accurate, it gives you a great indicator about a potential signing.

As far as negotiations are concerned, the old cut scenes have been replaced with a much more streamlined option. You will be speaking directly with the other club’s manager to negotiate and finalize a transfer.

Moreover, you no longer need to pay everything upfront. When confirming a transfer, you can pay attention to the challenges your club might face in the future. You can always pay in installments. If you like, you can reduce the upfront fee and add some bonus conditions that might apply in the future.

The same also applies when you are trying to sell a player, and the other clubs will also try to do the same. You can also expect the AI to be much more dynamic when it comes to targeting and making offers. The same level of complexity will also be associated with player negotiations.

While you can add a lot more clauses to a player’s contract, there’s no guarantee that they will accept them. In some cases, they will list their expectations and requirements, and it’s up to you whether you want to match them or not.

An element of time has also been added to transfers. Once you complete a negotiation successfully, you will still need to wait for the transfer to go through. There could be incidents where a rival club could appear with a better offer. In that case, you will need to convince the superstar to choose you instead. How you do that is up to you.

The shortlist feature for your club has also been streamlined, allowing you to observe all the targets simultaneously. No longer will you have to look into each one individually to see which transfer has been successfully executed. This will save you time and energy, allowing you to look into other matters of your club.

Dynamic OVR

In real life, a footballer’s quality is never stagnant. A young teenager having a breakthrough season can shine for a couple of months before fading away.

In FC 27, you can expect something similar to happen. Career mode players will no longer have fixed overall ratings. Their ratings will change based on how they are performing. A couple of superb performances will lead to your superstars increasing their rating, and a bad month will result in the numbers going down quickly.

Similarly, the overall rating of your players will also change. Someone like Jude Bellingham, who can play in several positions, will have less penalty to their overall rating when you use them in an unfamiliar position. For other footballers, the positional penalty will be much more severe.

You can expect all footballers to have a total of seven positions, of which they will be extremely familiar with one. Their familiarity with other positions will depend on the player, their stats, and other attributes.

This year, EA Sports will also introduce a baseline overall system for all players. It will determine what the numbers will look like for each player based on their position. As I mentioned, these numbers will constantly change throughout the course of a season, and they will also reflect how well a superstar is developing at your club.

Creator Challenge Dashboard

So far, the career mode has largely been an offline experience. That changes in FC 27 with the introduction of the Creator Challenges. Your favorite creators will be able to create different challenges, and they can share them with their fans. As a matter of fact, you can do the same thing and challenge your buddies to become successful.

You can also do this on the companion app and immediately share it within your friend circle. The Creator Challenge adds a new twist that we have not seen before. Imagine seeing a football club going through a bad spell in real life. You will be able to create the same conditions and take on the challenge. All you have to do is share the code, and everyone can get access to it. This can also create friendly challenges and leagues where you can find out if you can do better than your friends.

Unexpected Events and Rivalries

In FC 27‘s Career mode, you can expect more Unexpected Events to take place. These events were introduced last year, and I have been a fan of them. It adds just that level of complexity that makes managing your club harder and more challenging.

Some of the events that will occur will be simple injuries that you need to manage. Others will be far more complex, where egos will flare up at your club. How you manage them will ultimately determine the morale and performance of your superstars.

The same also applies to rivalries that will take place on their own. The battle between Haaland and Mbappé will no longer be limited to just social media, because you will encounter similar things on your side. Of course, whoever gets the bragging rights will have a telling outcome about the future of such rivalries.

I am extremely excited to find out more about these features once the game goes live in September.

Overall, I’m quite impressed reading things on paper. Career mode has felt too simple in the last few years when I compare it with games like Football Manager. These added dynamic features that EA Sports has in plans should make our saves far more challenging, but I will reserve my impressions until I get to actually manage my favorite club in FC 27.
