Leveling up in Witchspire is essential if you want to improve your character, and its heart lies in the Luminaries system. These will appear similar to the skill nodes we find in ARPGs mostly. However, Luminaries are much more than skills themselves, and this system will explain how it works.
How do Luminaries work in Witchspire
Luminaries represent new unlocks you obtain as you progress in Witchspire. This can be new abilities, equipment, recipes, workbenches, and more. Occasionally, you can also unlock decorations if you’re interested in them.

In simple words, the game gives you complete freedom over what you unlock. Want to become a resource gatherer? Get those upgrades first. Want to kill enemies? Just go for the upgraded weapons first.
While the unlock mechanism of all Luminaries remains the same, what and how you spend is upon you.
How to unlock Luminaries in Witchspire
Unlocking Luminaries is simple: you need to level up. Every time you gain a level, you’ll get a point to invest in a Luminary of your liking. Once again, it’s up to you where you want to invest.

The key is to level up as quickly as you can. The quicker you level, the faster you unlock the Luminaries. There are two ways to earn XP consistently and quickly.
- Complete as many quests as you can. Don’t skip the optional ones since they will always net you extra rewards and XP.
- Defeat as many enemies as you can. While you can always avoid a creature, it’s best to combat it if you can match its strength. However, don’t challenge a creature that’s many levels above you, as the results can be dangerous.
While you choose Luminaries based on your personal preference, it’s always beneficial to get a better weapon. Whether that’s a Spellblade or a Wand depends on your build. However, a better weapon allows you to clear in-game content faster and gain more XP (and hence, unlock more Luminaries) in the process.
