From the creator of the original … and Amy :gulp:
Flashback Origins will update the classic and highly influential cinematic platformer Flashback for downloadable services on consoles and PC, according to a French blog that must have way cooler friends than me.
If the provided image is to be believed, this update adds a HUD and places a greater emphasis on weaponry — that sound, that you heard just now, is the sound of a thousand Flashback fans groaning. Trying to stay optimistic, I see the game more as a much wanted (by me at least) sequel to Shadow Complex.
But then I must address that the rumored developer of this title is none other than Amy developer VectorCell which, I can assure you, is nothing to be optimistic about — BUT VectorCell is headed by Flashback‘s original director Paul Cuisset, so who better to ruin a classic than its own creator? This will be his second attempt at a Flashback follow-up, predated by unreleased Game Boy Advance title Flashback Legends.
I feel like a whirlwind of excitement and disappointment just rushed through me, and all for information and an image that may not be true. Let’s hope we’ll hear more about Flashback Origins soon. Or not. I don’t even know anymore.
