Roku boxes get cloud gaming in Big Fish partnership

Recommended Videos

Do you have one of those nifty Roku streaming internet boxes? I have two as they’re amazing little things. I just bought my dad one for Father’s Day, too. They’re cheap and insanely useful, and I can’t recommend them enough.

They’ve become even more useful through a newly announced deal with Big Fish. They’re calling it Big Fish Unlimited, a cloud-based gaming service that promises hundreds of casual games. The service will be available over a variety of connected devices, but the newly announced Roku partnership makes these little sub-$100 boxes like little game consoles. Games are played in the cloud, with game progress saved remotely.

Those that don’t have Roku devices can enjoy the service on PC/Mac browsers, tablets, and smartphones, and more connected devices will be added later this year.

Big Fish says that the service is now up and running and is already packed with 100 games. New games will be added each week, pulling from their existing library of over 2,500 PC games. A subscription to their premium catalog is available for a monthly fee of $7.99.
