OUYA Kickstarter surpasses $5 million

Despite the cynicism growing around OUYA, the Android console’s Kickstarter continues to raise money from supportive and hopeful gamers. The system recently passed the $5 million mark, placing it well ahead of its comparatively humble $950,000 goal.

At the time of writing, the full total stands at $5,046,170, with 21 days still left to go on the countdown.

With so much money and excited hype, the pressure’s really on to deliver. I certainly hope it does so, even if the system becomes just a cool little Android hub and doesn’t really “upend” anything. In any case, you could always read our interview with the project CEO if you like. Some words are said!
