DICE defends Battlefield 3 launch DLC

Yesterday, word got out of a boycott kickstarted by Battlefield 3 fans who were furious over pre-order customers getting rewarded with extra multiplayer content that regular consumers wouldn’t be able to obtain. Hoping to stamp out this potential imbalance, over 3,000 gamers joined the cause.

Developer DICE has responded to the issue, defending the decision to reward pre-orders with extra content while assuring fans that it won’t create a gross advantage online.

“We believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers — such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.” said the company in a Q&A. “… The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.”

So there you are. I wouldn’t be too concerned though, it’s not like EA to not want to sell you that DLC later anyway, even if it’s exclusive to pre-orders for now.
