Sony Online announces new free-to-play FPS, Bullet Run

Sony Online Entertainment has revealed Bullet Run, a free-to-play first-person shooter due to be released on PC later this summer. Players are contestants in a near-future reality game show who must gun each other down with style to earn fame, which in turn unlocks new customization options. Up to twenty players will compete in either Team Deathmatch or “Dominion” game modes across six maps.

Sounds to me like it’s The Running Man, which I’m totally okay with. Developed by ACONY, Bullet Run sounds like it’s attempting to keep pace with the multiplayer shooter genre with its feature list, which notes the thousands of possible accessory combinations for each weapon, an active reload mechanic and “Kill Skills,” abilities and buffs earned through skilled play.

You can register for the beta of Bullet Run right now on the game’s official site, as well as check out a first trailer for the game. Could be fun, but I’m not ready to get too enthusiastic until we have a chance to give it a play. I think it’s a safe bet we’ll get that chance once E3 kicks off.
