360 version of Stranger’s Wrath HD could still happen

Will Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD ever find its way to Xbox 360? I had given up hope, but it sounds as if it’s not completely ruled out. Speaking to VG247, Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray explained that while the studio has “given up on Microsoft doing anything with it,” they haven’t given up on the platform.

The team ran up against a number of policies which “stalled” the process for over 15 months. These included things like Microsoft not wanting it on Xbox Live Arcade because the original had already been on their platform, a required 1M units sold at retail and minimum asking price of $20 for Games on Demand, and the fact that Stranger’s Wrath HD had come out first on PlayStation 3.

It’s worth mentioning that, according to Gilray, it was Microsoft who came to Just Add Water two weeks after the game had been first announced for PS3, not the other way around. Now, JAW is talking with two other publishers in hopes of finally getting the game out to Xbox 360 players.

“We can’t wait forever,” explained Gilray to VG247. “If we did, PS4 and 720 would be out. We have to, at some point, say, ‘We tried. End of.’ And that’s sooner rather than later now. But people can’t accuse us of not trying.”
