1001 Spikes also hitting Wii U, 3DS on June 3

We heard the PS4, PS Vita, and Steam versions of 1001 Spikes were coming June 3. Which is great and all, but I know a number of us were going to hold out for the game on Wii U or 3DS -- no need to! Nicalis has confirmed those...

1001 Spikes comes to PS4, Vita, Steam on June 3

Nicalis' 1001 Spikes is a game I'm excited about but have somehow completely missed the chance to talk about. It's a particularly brutal action-platformer that also doubles as an outstanding Mario Bros. style party game. Ther...

Turn-based fighting game Toribash now available on Steam

Do you know Toribash? It has existed as a free-to-play game for a while now on Mac and PC, and it even came to WiiWare several years ago. The turn-based, muscle micromanagement fighter starring Vectorman's cousins may now ga...

1001 Spikes' multiplayer gets everyone in on the dying

If you can be certain of one thing for the upcoming Aban Hawkins & the 1,001 Spikes, it's that dying is an inevitability -- an inevitability that will happen time and time again. This trailer shows some of the ways that ...

Nicalis pondering physical release for Cave Story on 3DS

HUGE: Download a full copy of NightSky right now photo
HUGE: Download a full copy of NightSky right now
by Papa Niero

Have you played NightSky yet? We've got Steam codes for all of our members right now, courtesy of our friends at Nicalis.

Destructoid's Jonathan Holmes gave it an 8/10, calling NightSky a "physics-focused puzzle platformer that alternates between soothing the fuck out of the player and stressing them out with deceptively simple-looking obstacle courses."

To claim your code simply access your HUGE Perks page to grab your code and claim it on Steam. If there is a surplus of codes after members get dibs, we'll of course make the rest public.

Destructoid HUGE is a new way of supporting what we do: it offers you ad-free browsing, a better mobile and tablet experience, a 1080p and work-safe sneaky "Googtoid" page design, 25% off Destructoid Shot Glasses and Shirts, automatic entries to all of our contests, and funds cool new podcasts like The Core, and two unannounced shows we will be launching in the coming weeks (get hype!).  Check it out and thanks for reading us!

Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes adds dead tempura

Nintendo fans, remember how much you wanted to love Subspace Emissary? It's a crying shame. The slightly busted co-op, the sluggish, fudge-y platforming and generally uninteresting level design did a lot to mar Super Sma...

In a hidden red room just outside of the main PAX show floor, many wonderous new videogames could be found. Nicalis was showing Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes, VVVVVV, and Legend of Raven (formerly known as Yatagarasu) on...

Here's the new cast of Aban Hawkins & the 1001 Spikes
by Jordan Devore

Jonathan and Tony were able to play some Aban Hawkins & the 1001 Spikes at PAX Prime 2013, including testing out guest characters in the new cooperative mode. The original release on Xbox 360 was tremendously fun in that familiar masochistic way, and based on how this video went, I'm utterly convinced co-op will be the way to go.

There's fun to be had, even in death. Nicalis' Tyrone Rodriguez was there to tell us about the new characters -- there are going to be more than a dozen in the final version, with varying abilities -- and offer a bit of moral support. Eventually, they brought Tyrone (and PlayStation's Shane Bettenhausen) on to show us all how 1001 Spikes is done. Dibs on Nyx of NyxQuest fame, is all I can say. Or maybe President Thompson -- I adore Tempura of the Dead.

The game's coming to Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PS4, so no excuses. We need to play this.
