DICE: Battlefield 4's bad launch 'absolutely' damaged trust

I think it's nice that we've finally managed to hold EA accountable to something. Can its ripoff sports game releases be next? Well, I guess it's been DICE falling on the sword and profusely apologizing more than EA.&nbs...

Friendly reminder: Go get yo' free games on Xbox Live! photo
Friendly reminder: Go get yo' free games on Xbox Live!
by Brett Makedonski

With the beginning of a new month, it's time that we all flip our calendars from that picture of an adorable kitten rolling around in the leaves to that picture of an adorable kitten sitting in a pumpkin. It's also time that Xbox Live Gold members should go ahead and swoop on their free games.

As a quick reminder, DICE's highly praised Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is available until October 15 on Xbox 360. On Xbox One, newly released indie cooperative platformer Chariot is free all month long. Chariot's one that you won't want to pass up, especially if you have a partner to sit on the couch and work through it with.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers would be remiss to pass these up. Go ahead and put on your Uggs, froth your pumpkin spice lattes, and queue up some videogames to play.

Battlefield Hardline's single-player campaign reminds me of Far Cry 3

Up until now, Visceral Games has concentrated on showing the multiplayer side of Battlefield Hardline. That's been fine, but unlike most other Battlefield titles, I'm actually somewhat interested in hearing about the single-...

Battlefield 4 is free to play for a week on PC photo
Battlefield 4 is free to play for a week on PC
by Jordan Devore

EA is back with another Origin Game Time promotion following that one for Titanfall. Those of you on PC can claim a week of free access to Battlefield 4 -- just add the game to your Origin library before August 14. The clock doesn't start until you launch the title, at which point you'll then have one full week (168 hours) to play as much or as little as you'd like.

This offer includes full access to the single-player campaign (don't feel bad about skipping it) and multiplayer, and any progress you make will be retained should you choose to buy Battlefield 4 afterward. Pretty good way to get your fill without committing.

Tempted to log back in after a long absence. Maybe I'll stand a chance now.

DICE isn't sure why fans like Battlefield: Bad Company so much
