Zynga bought up four mobile gaming companies

Zynga says that they’ve purchased four mobile game companies to get into the smartphone and tablet action. Sums paid for each studio were not disclosed.

Mobile exec David Ko told Reuters that they picked up German game maker Gamedoctors, maker sof ZombieSmash, last December. Before that they bought the makers of the mobile version of World of Goo, Page44 Studios, back in September. The buying of mobile companies actually started in August 2011 with the acquisition of both San Francisco-based HipLogic and New York’s Astro Ape Studios.

It’s obvious that Zynga is looking to expand beyond Facebook get into your phone and tablet. They went public in December and now have to do something
