While this might not be the freshest news out of the box, we here at Destructoid had not brought this little tidbit of information to you, the readers, attention yet. While running down what we know about Zelda Wii so far Zelda Informer listed the fact that the game had been in development for going on five years. That’s before Twilight Princess launched and, if true, makes this Zelda have the longest development time in the series since Ocarina. We all know how well that turned out.
The information comes from an old copy of Game Informer, which came out in January of 2007. In the pages the magazine mentioned that a Zelda game specifically for the Wii has been in development for a year already. That means if it comes out at the end of this year it will have had around five years of development time and if it lands in 2011 it will be nearing six. With a development cycle like this and all the talk about change in the series we might be seeing a brand new take on Zelda come this Christmas (please, please, please).
