Zelda goes post-rock in this mellow collection of tunes

I never get tired of checking out Zelda music arrangements, so when reader Colin pointed us to this rough-cut album, I had to give it a listen.

This currently untitled collection of Zelda tribute songs by Cory Johnson gives a post-rock spin on several tracks from throughout the series history. It’s the kind of music you’d hear in an underground indie club and which, I think, could have fit right in the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World film soundtrack. It’s very raw and crunchy but mellow at the same time. It’s different, most certainly.

These are just demo tracks, with the full mastered album arriving at a later date. Give it a listen for now and see if it suits your fancy. After the break, I’ve embedded Cory’s cover of “Water Temple” — tell me the opening doesn’t sound like the start of the Terminator theme!
