Yu Suzuki to deliver a Shenmue postmortem at GDC 2014

Mark Cerny to translate?!

Game creator and videogame legend Yu Suzuki will deliver a postmortem on Shenmue at GDC 2014. GDC says that he’ll be talking for the very first time about this classic game, starting from its origins as a Virtua Fighter-based RPG on the Saturn to its release in 1999.

What’s crazy is that PS4 lead system architect and game designer Mark Cerny will be translating Suzuki’s presentation. What.

I expect standing room only at this presentation. I’ll be the first dork in line. I’m a massive Suzuki fan, as well as one of the freaks that thinks about Shenmue daily, even now.

And for those that can’t be there, GDC says that the session will be live streamed on GameSpot.

To celebrate, I’d like to share two of my Shenmue music remixes. The one above is my take on the Tomato Convenience Store Theme. I took some liberties on that one, adding background vocals and my own lyrics. The one below is my cover of the Bob’s Pizza theme, also with some background vocals.
