New study says most moms game

No, really. She probably does. Mine does. In fact, new research released today by the Entertainment Software Association says that 74 percent of moms are gamers.

The “Mom Gamers Study: A New Generation of Gamer” found that 75 percent of these gaming moms do so on a weekly basis, and more than a third of them do so daily. They use all platforms, but 65 percent are using mobile devices to do so. But it’s not all mobile — 50 percent use consoles. 30 percent bought some kind of gaming hardware, software, or accessory in the past three months. This means that your mom is all up in gaming.

While our moms aren’t necessarily playing the same type of games we are (card and puzzle games top the list), I think it helps the climate overall that they’re involved. The ESA says that half of mom gamers think that gaming is an activity that is good for the whole family, and about 30 percent of them use games to connect with their children.
