You might want to check Circuit City again

We told you early last month that electronics retailer Circuit City was closing over 150 stores. That’s big news, as they held up about 10% of the US games market. Damn this economy!

We saw their “everything must go” sales last month, but were not impressed. They discounted their games a measly 5%. What bullsh*t! You could do better than that discount just about anywhere, especially on the internet. That doesn’t even take care of tax!

It’s worth checking back now, provided you have a closing store near you. I checked in on a local store yesterday, and the prices were much lower than before. Games were 30% off, and they actually had a solid selection. New games were still on the racks, too. Both of Square Enix’s recent RPG duds may not be worth $60, but how about $40-something? Fallout 3 was there, as were the limited editions of the new GTA and Saints Row 2. All cheap.

Game accessories were also 30% off. I didn’t really want a PSEye, but got one for a good price. They had no controllers left, but they did have just about everything else. Strategy guides and the like were a whopping 70% off. Found several nice ones for only dollars.

If you’re a PC gamer, titles were 40% off and the selection was very solid. PC software was 50% off, too. And if you’re still gaming on stereo television speakers, you’re missing out. Circuit City had some insane discounts on receivers and speakers.
