You can exchange My Nintendo points for a Switch Online trial

The deal is back until March 31, 2020

If you have My Nintendo points to burn and you aren’t already a Nintendo Switch Online member, here’s a two-birds-with-one-stone sorta tip. Nintendo is (once again) giving out a seven-day trial code for Nintendo Switch Online in exchange for a paltry 100 Platinum Points, which you can easily earn for free.

That’s long enough to revisit a bunch of NES and SNES games, including Punch-Out!! and Super Metroid, and play a few rounds of Tetris 99 before you remember that people are absurdly good at Tetris. It’s also an ideal opportunity for anyone hoping to go online with Animal Crossing: New Horizons this weekend.

As for caveats, the Nintendo Switch Online code is only usable if you don’t have an active Individual or Family Membership plan, and the code will expire on April 7, 2020, so you can’t hoard it forever.

Assuming you don’t already have 100 Platinum Points sitting in your account (I barely interact with My Nintendo and I had enough), you can complete a couple of missions. The easiest way: finding and clicking two Poochy Pups on the Yoshi’s Crafted World website for 50 points each. They’re lurking around a few different sections of that site and aren’t exactly well-hidden. Just make sure to sign in.

We mentioned the Poochy Method the last time Nintendo offered trial codes, and it still works today.
