You can check how much money you’ve spent on Steam (but maybe you shouldn’t)

What’s the damage?

Valve recently added the ability for Steam users to see how much money they’ve spent, and this sure feels like the video game equivalent of learning the exact date you’re going to die. I didn’t need to know this. I didn’t need to know this at all! Why couldn’t I walk away and continue living in blissful ignorance?

If you want to know your total or just plain can’t help yourself, here’s how to find it in Steam: Help > Steam Support > My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > External Funds Used.

As its name suggests, the “TotalSpend” value is what you’re after. My lifetime total is just under $1,400, which isn’t as bad as I was expecting. My spending has thankfully slowed down in recent years.

I’m just glad I’m not the dude who spent $13,000 to reach the highest Steam level.
