You can beat FNAF: Secret of the Mimic in under five minutes

Speedruns galore.

Speedrunners are already breaking FNAF: Secret of the Mimic mere days after release, with some even beating the game in four minutes, proving once and for all that when it comes to the speedrunning community, anything is possible.

Of course, the legendary small time is only made possible by a glitch, but it’s still pretty fascinating to see how it’s done, and also, how speedrunners were able to find out this information so quickly after the game’s initial release.

For the initial three minutes, you play the game normally. Get out of your truck, enter the gate, and enter the facility to watch the opening musical performance. It’s only after you finally get into the backrooms that the game shows its glitchy secrets. Players discovered that by going into a locker next to a specific mascot costume, you can perform a glitch where the player exits and reenters the locker, forcing the player’s model into the air.

Once in the air, by pausing the game in a specific way, the game will shoot you into the ceiling and start to load a different part of the game entirely, which so happens to be the final chase sequence through the burning facility at the end of the good ending of the game. It’s pretty wild to see this happen and be done so easily, with most speedrunners trying to get a world record in the margin of seconds at the time of writing.

We expect the developers to patch out this amazing glitch that has led to the game being speedrun so quickly in a future patch, but for now, it’s pretty easy to replicate and can be performed by pretty much anyone with some basic instructions. Letting you get the achievement for beating the game before going against any of the game’s major bosses, from Big Top to the Mimic itself.
