You aren’t supposed to get it, it’s art: Gridrunner++ coming to XBLA

Jeff Minter — creator of as-often-lauded-as-decried XBLA synaethesia-shooter Space Giraffehas announced his next project: Gridrunner++, a remake of a remake of a Vic 20 title he created on stone tablets using chisels and kindly, wise-cracking birds. Of course, as per Minter’s usual style, the game will almost certainly feature psychadelic animals, prismatic color schemes and visuals rivalled only by closing one’s eyes and pressing hard on the soft parts of the retina with one’s own thumbs.

Say what you will about Mr. Minter’s previous efforts, but I think he provides the most damning evidence for the ‘games as art’ argument. After all, what is art besides a medium that the average person finds confusing and often distasteful, while the erudite, elitist bourgeoisie fawn over it to no end regardless of actual content or value?

Like I said above, you aren’t supposed to get it, it’s art.
