Yomawari: Night Alone still perfectly balances cuteness and horror

I was in the moment I saw it

Even though it’s developed by NIS, Yomawari: Night Alone is still a pretty obscure project.

It’s billed as a survival horror game, but is framed around the concept of a little girl rescuing her dog and her sister after her town succumbs to a terrifying darkness. Like many horror joints before it the flashlight is a key mechanic, but the isometric view makes it look interesting — the music is also hauntingly beautiful, so there’s that.

It arrived last year in Japan on the Vita, but will be hitting the west this October on both Vita and PC.
