Yep, Destiny 2 is getting a big Game of the Year-type edition that includes this fall’s Forsaken expansion

Just like The Taken King

Anyone who has sat out on Destiny 2 thus far won’t have much trouble getting caught up when this fall’s Forsaken expansion releases. Activision predictably has made the on-boarding process quite simple by introducing a new version of the game.

Destiny 2 will receive a Legendary Collection on September 4 that’s made up of everything in the game to that point. It includes the base game, Curse of Osiris (the first expansion), Warmind (the second expansion), and Forsaken which also releases on September 4. It’ll be priced at $60. The original Destiny did this too with its base game, the year one DLC, and The Taken King.

However, that’s only for players who want to buy into the past and present of Destiny — not the future. Don’t worry, Activision has that figured out too. In June, Bungie revealed the Annual Pass which is essentially a season pass for Forsaken but it doesn’t actually include the Forsaken expansion; instead, it includes the Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra expansions which will launch between winter 2018 and summer 2019. The Annual Pass will cost $35.

Try to keep up with the calculus. Forsaken runs $40 by itself. But there’s also a Forsaken and Annual Pass bundle that’s priced at $70, and that represents a $5 savings over buying them individually. This all culminates in Destiny 2: Forsaken — Complete Collection. That’s a $100 version of Destiny 2 with everything from year one and year two. Weirdly, this is actually $5 more expensive than buying the Legendary Collection for $60 and the Annual Pass for $35.

Whew, that was exhausting.
