The ship has already sailed for videogame enthusiasts who really enjoy Toyota-branded Xbox Live Arcade titles developed by ex-Blizzard employees. As of a few days ago Yaris was completely eradicated from the Arcade consciousness. It wasn’t removed because it blew (it did), it was removed because the contract with Microsoft expired.
Yaris debuted on Xbox Live Arcade, October 7, 2007. It’s been a little more than the contractually obligated year, but it’s better late than never. Initially, we thought that the game was removed because Microsoft resurected its delisting plan, which was supposed to be a way to kill dashboard clutter before the NXE came along. Yaris seemed like the perfect game to take the first hit.
Yaris wasn’t simply removed from the Arcade. It was also removed from Microsoft’s official webpage. It’s like it never even existed. Perhaps we’re better for that.
