Xiao’s Ascension materials in Genshin Impact

If you’re a new Xiao owner in Genshin Impact, you’ll want to Ascend him to level 90 as soon as possible in order to maximize his power. Here’s a list of everything you need to build up your Xiao!

Character Ascension

Primo Geovishap

Xiao uses Juvenile Jades dropped by the Primo Geovishap in Liyue. The Primo Geovishap will be imbued at random with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo, and you can easily tell which element it is based on the color of its body. It has increased RES to both Geo and its imbued element, so you may need to adjust your team while farming. Remember to bring a shielder!

You’ll need 46 Juvenile Jades in total, which will take an average of 18 boss runs or about 720 Resin at World Level 8.

Qingxin

Qingxin are white flowers dotting the mountaintops of Liyue. They can be a pain to get to, but are fortunately fairly plentiful, especially with the Chasm and Chenyu Vale map expansions.

Xiao needs 168 Qingxin in total. Thankfully, there are more than enough on the map, so hiking through the Liyue mountaintops should get you plenty.

Slime Condensate

Slime enemies can be found everywhere in Teyvat. All slimes drop the same class of materials, regardless of their element.

To fully Ascend Xiao, you’ll need 18 Slime Condensate, 30 Slime Secretions, and 36 Slime Concentrate — more if you plan on leveling his Talents.

Vayuda Turquoise

As an Anemo character, Xiao uses Vayuda Turquoises to Ascend. Unfortunately, his boss, the Primo Geovishap, does not drop Vayuda Turqoises, so you’ll have to obtain them elsewhere. If you don’t already have enough in your inventory, you can convert other elemental gems to Anemo using Dust of Azoth, which you can buy with Starglitter.

Xiao will need 1 Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones.

Talent Levels

Prosperity Books

Xiao’s Talents use Prosperity books. These can be farmed from the Liyue Talent domain on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Xiao needs 9 brown books, 63 silver books, and 114 gold books to fully level his Talents. This translates to roughly 2,480 Resin, depending on your luck.

Slime Condensate

Slimes are plentiful in all regions of Teyvat. They drop the same materials regardless of element. Pick a spot, look around, and you’ll probably see a slime somewhere.

Xiao’s Talents require 18 Slime Condensate, 66 Slime Secretions, and 93 Slime Concentrate to go from level 1 to 10.

Shadows of the Warrior

As an older character, Xiao’s weekly boss materials are Shadows of the Warrior, dropped by Childe in The Golden House. These look like glass vials with little flames inside. Why, what else do they look like?

Xiao will need 18 Shadows in total. This means around 8 weeks of farming, depending on your drop luck.
