Xbox One’s adding Neverwinter to its stable of free-to-play games

Perfect World’s stepping outside the PC crowd

Xbox One has a handful of free-to-play titles, and all of them were built specifically for the console. That’ll change in the first half of 2015 as Neverwinter, a popular PC action MMO role-playing game, hits the Microsoft platform.

Neverwinter‘s set in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe, to which it provides new and supplemental narratives. For publisher Perfect World, it marks the first time venturing from the PC audience and into the console market.

As is the case with these things, Neverwinter isn’t purely free in the sense that an Xbox Live Gold subscription is still required. Also, there are no details yet as to whether any sort of cross-platform saves will be available. But, for anyone looking to scratch that MMO itch from their couch, 2015 and Neverwinter are right around the corner.
