1 vs. 100 holds a special place in everyone’s hearts that got to experience the craze back on the Xbox 360. It disappeared much to the dismay of fans, but it looks like Microsoft is committed to bringing back that style of interactive gameshow again.

“The game studios were kind of dipping their toe into it just to see if there could be some traction, and they found it, but I don’t think they had the proper infrastructure to really follow through with it,” Nancy Tellem, president of entertainment and digital media told us. “Thankfully we’re here with that infrastructure to support these kind of efforts.

“We’ve been looking at [1 vs. 100] again. I got to tell you, the number of people who have come to me and say ‘You got to do 1 vs. 100,’ it is something that again I thought was a pretty experimental and daring and cool attempt. I think now that we actually have a studio that’s committed to actually producing this kind of content, it won’t be an attempt but it will be a commitment.”

Microsoft is committed to making that type of experience again, just not necessarily 1 vs. 100 itself. The company is looking at the game and experimenting with different types of gameshows they could possibly fully develop.

“When you look at the technology of Xbox,” Tellem stated, “it seems to me the game and the competitive shows really enable us to highlight what you can do, and create that virtual living room that people can actually participate at the same time that others are participating in real time.”
