WoW: The War Within Spellslinger Mage Hero Talents

In World of Warcraft: The War Within, one of the new Hero Talents for the Mage class is the Spellslinger. It is one of the three Hero Talents available for Mage alongside the Frostfire and Sunfury. Spellslinger Mages are prodigies of spellcasting that have learned to splinter their sorceries, creating powerful and volatile new effects. Focusing on enhancing spells with Arcane magic, these are the potential Hero Talent choices for Spellslinger Mage:

• Splintering Sorcery (Passive) – When you consume Nether Precision, conjure an Arcane Splinter that fires at your target. Arcane Splinter conjures raw Arcane magic into a sharp projectile that deals 6,086 Arcane damage. Arcane Splinters embed themselves into their target, dealing 3,616 Arcane damage over 16 sec. This effect stacks.
• Augury Abounds (Passive) – Casting Arcane Surge conjures 8 Arcane Splinters. During Arcane Surge, whenever you conjure an Arcane Splinter, you have a 100% chance to conjure an additional Arcane Splinter.
• Controlled Instincts (Passive) – While a target is under the effects of Nether Tempest, 30% of the direct damage dealt by an Arcane Splitner is also dealt to nearby enemies. Damage reduced beyond 5 targets. Direct damage from Arcane Splinter’s resets the duration of Nether Tempest.
• Splintering Orbs (Passive) – The first 4 times an enemy is damaged by your Arcane Orb, conjure an Arcane Splinter that flies at the damaged target. Arcane Orb damage is increased by 10%.

  • Slipper Slinging (Passive) – You have 40% increased movement speed during Alter Time.
  • Look Again (Passive) – Displacement has a 50% longer duration, 25% longer range, and leaves behind a Mirror Image.

  • Reactive Barrier (Passive) – Your Prismatic Barrier can absorb up to 50% more damage based on your missing Health. (Max effectiveness when under 50% health.)
  • Phantasmal Image (Passive) – Your Mirror Image summons one extra clone. Mirror Image now reduces all damage taken by an additional 5%.
• 2 Possible Choices
  • Volatile Magic (Passive) – 100 yd range – Whenever an Embedded Arcane Splinter is removed or recalled, it explodes, dealing 869 Arcane damage to nearby enemies. Deals reduced damage beyond 5 targets.
  • Unerring Proficiency (Passive) – Each time you conjure an Arcane Splinter, increase the damage of your next Supernova by 16%. Stacks up to 30 times.
• Shifting Shards (Passive) – Shifting Power fires a barrage of 8 Arcane Splinters at random enemies within 40 yds over its duration.
• Spellfrost Teachings (Passive) – Direct damage from an Arcane Splinter has a 5% chance to summon a Greater Arcane Echo that deals 922 Arcane damage to all nearby enemies and increases the damage enemies take from you by 6% for 6 sec.
• Force of Will (Passive) – Gain 2% increased critical strike chance. Gain 5% increased critical strike damage.
• Splinterstorm (Passive) – Whenever you have 8 or more active Embedded Arcane Splinters, you automatically cast a Splinterstorm at your target. Splinterstorm recalls all Embedded Arcane Splinters to you, dealing their remaining periodic damage instantly. After a brief delay, unleash a devastating barrage of Arcane Splinters, dealing 6,086 Arcane damage to your target for each Arcane Splinter in the Splinterstorm. Splinterstorm grants you Clearcasting.
