WoW has 8 million residents, plans to invade Poland

(Azeroth isn’t actually going to invade Poland, but you just know that’s where they would start.)

In a press release issued earlier today, Blizzard announced that its tremendously successful MMORPG, World of Warcraft, had reached eight million subscribers, cementing its place as the largest MMO in the history of man’s obsession with sitting in front of a computer and not eating.

It’s entirely possible that Blizzard has “cooked the books” a bit, as some of these subscribers may no longer be active, but that’s common to every MMO developer. Recently, Second Life said they had a million inhabitants, when in reality it’s just three guys masturbating a fourth guy dressed as a koala bear.
