Would you put up with ads on Steam? Valve doesn’t think so

According to a statement from Valve’s Erik Johnson, the company has no plans to introduce ads to Steam anytime soon. Johnson notes that they’d rather focus on “long-term relationships,” and that ad programs just cost money and create a negative value for consumers. He goes on to say, “It would be a bad business decision, let alone just dumb.” As of now Valve is servicing 125 million users and doesn’t charge them to play online, so they’re doing something right.

Meanwhile, over at Sony and Microsoft headquarters, they’re thinking about how they can possibly pack more ads in on the PSN and Xbox Live.
