World 1-2 is insane, and I must have it in my earholes

Top NES-era composers join modern greats

Okay, I have no idea how this album is even possible. How do you get the composers of the original Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man, Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Austin Wintory (Journey), Stemage of Metroid Metal, Module (Shatter), the Video Game Orchestra, Danimal Cannon, and more on a single album? Is it possible to accumulate a roster that is any more amazing?

Well, it’s been done. World 1-2 brings together all of the above artists and more in a collection of original tracks and game remixes in what’s already my most anticipated album of the year. While the release date is right around the corner on May 2, 2013, you can stream the first six tracks right now, and it’s sounding damn good.

The album’s 20 tracks will set you back $10 on Bandcamp, so get in on this and let us know what you think of the star-studded roster. Are you with me in hoping we’ll see a lot more of Keiji Yamagishi (Ninja Gaiden) and Manami Matsumae (Mega Man, Shovel Knight) in the future?
