Whoops. The ESRB rated another title we didn’t know about. Recently, the organization listed id Software’s first-person shooter classic Wolfenstein 3D, presumably as an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network title.
Chances of a Wolf 3D port seem good. id just released an iPhone version of the game and, perhaps more importantly, they’re gearing up for a fully-featured current generation title. I smell cross promotion. (I don’t mind.)
My fondest memories of Wolfenstein 3D actually have nothing to do with the action. My thoughts linger on the game’s walls. I would scout hallways for hours on end, endlessly tapping on the keyboard as B.J. ran against a level’s geometrical boundaries. I wanted every little hidden treasure, ammo box, and armor.
Unfortunately, I never lived long enough to enjoy the spoils. The FPS was an entirely new concept to me at the time. Now, I’m all sorts of battle-hardened. Bring it on, Activision. I eat Nazi dogs for breakfast.
