Updated on May 25, 2026: Added Island 2 Potions as well as a Race Tier List.

Recommended Videos

If you’re looking for the best potions/spells and races in Wizard Alchemy, I’ll cover both in this guide. Sometimes lower rarity potions are just as powerful for farming while being easier to Refine. As for races, there’s a #1 but the top 3 depend on which Potions you pick as you’ll see below. Here’s my Wizard Alchemy Potion and Race tier list.

Wizard Alchemy Potion/Spell Tier List

Before we dive below into the individual ranking reasons for the best potions in Wizard Alchemy, here are the ranking breakdowns:

  • S-Tier: Best of the best for PVE and worth the grind for refining.
  • A-Tier: Great alternatives that are still worth refining.
  • B-Tier: Good secondary slot options or powerful early game spells that are easy to refine.
  • C-Tier: Weaker than the above but beginner friendly since they’re easy to refine.
  • D-Tier: Same as C-Tier but these are more difficult to use due to low range or they’re from Island 2 so they’re harder to get for beginners.

Refinement Note: You need a total of 60 Potions to reach SSS Refinement if you’re going with a 100% guaranteed Refinement route with 3 normals for S, 4S for SS, 5SS for SSS.

Elemental Shard Note: If you want a specific Potion from this list use its Elemental Shard to craft it (Crafting guide & Recipes).

Race & Potion Combos: It’s best to combine some of these Potions with the best races – Race tier list is below the Potion list.

S-Tier Potions/Spells

Potion & Minimum Magic Req.Ranking Notes
Solar Flare
Island 2 – 245 Magic
• The best potion in the game
• The best damage and scaling in the late-game
• Other potions can somewhat compete if they have the race boost
Molten Core
Island 2 – 230 Magic
• Molten Core is arguably the second-best potion in the game
• It has massive scaling for late-game
Thunder Revenge Potion
Island 2 – 150 Magic
• The Frost Thorns of the Epic tier since it’s so good and easier to grind than Legendaries
• Massive burst damage and competes for the third-best potion in the game with Night Wraith

A-Tier Potions/Spells

Potion & Minimum Magic Req.Ranking Notes

Night Wraith Potion
129 Magic
Optimal Chances:
2 Furnace Core
3 Dark Shards
• Some of the best damage in the game with massive range
• It got a bit of power creep from the Island 2 potions but it’s still strong
• I recommend using Frost Thorns to grind it
Thunder Ball Potion
Island 2 – 112 Magic
• Similar to Frost Thorns in these high-tiers where it’s great damage and easy to refine
• Frost Thorns is only better since it has Race synergy
Frost Thorns Potion
80 Magic
Optimal Chances:
1-2 Ice Shard
Arrange 3-4 Furnace Cores/Copper Earrings
• Amazing high damage farming that’s easy to refine
• Overall great DPS, low cooldowns and it has infinite range
• Goes best with Ice Crystal race
Incendies Potion
Island 2 – 160 Magic
• An alternative to Dragon Breath for your Fiendish Demon race fire spell
• Deals massive burst damage and scales really well into the late game with refining
• It’s lower damage than Dragon Breath but faster
Dragon Breath Potion
99 Magic
Optimal Chances:
1-2 Fire Shard
Arrange 3-4 Furnace Cores/Copper Earrings
• Can be about the same power as Frost Thorns or better but harder to refine
• Great damage and really short cooldown
• Goes best with Fiendish Demon race
Radiant Sword Potion
105 Magic
• Radiant Sword is up there in the top 3 highest damage spells in the game
• I just find Dragon Breath has a better cooldown and FT is easier to get
• Still this is an amazing late-game spell

B-Tier Potions/Spells

Potion & Minimum Magic Req.Ranking Notes
Earth Spike Potion
77 Magic
• Massive base damage that scales incredibly well with Refining
• Great for beginners and in mid-to-late game
• Basically a slightly weaker Frost Thorns in terms of farming that is just as easy to refine
Tornado Potion
70 Magic
• Tornado has lower damage than all the spells above
• That said, Tornado has such a short cooldown that it’s great for farming
• Combine it with Frost Thorns for a powerful spamming build
Wood Thorn Potion
Island 2 – 105 Magic
• Great burst damage similar to Earth Spike but faces the same problems of getting outscaled by AOE options like Bolide and higher
Bolide Potion
Island 2 – 120 Magic
• An amazing mid-game AOE damage option
• Plus it’s multi-hit
• Scales really well with the Demon race
• If you have the Race this is at the top of B-Tier
Lotus Bloom Potion
100 Magic
• Lotus Bloom has more damage potential than the rest of B-Tier, especially with Ice race
• That said, it has a long animation and high cooldown so I ranked it a bit lower
• Plus it’s harder to farm and Refine than Tornado, Earth Spike and Frost Thorns
• The delayed damage really makes it awkward to use even though the base damage is high

C-Tier Potions/Spells

Potion & Minimum Magic Req.Ranking Notes
Meteorite Potion
74 Magic
• Decent damage and an overall decent spell but Fire Arrow/Wind Blade are easier to refine early and later you have better options
Fire Arrow Potion
45 Magic
Ice Spike Potion
10 Magic
Wind Blade Potion
6 Magic
• Fire Arrow, Ice Spike and Wind Blade are amazing beginner options that are incredibly easy to refine
• They don’t scale as well as higher tiers, but they will carry you since they’re so accessible
• Basically you’ll start with them as primaries and move them to the secondary slot once you get Frost Thorns or its equivalents above
Twisting Potion
Island 2 – 60 Magic
• The damage isn’t that good but this is a decent early support spell to root enemies in place as you blast them

D-Tier Potions/Spells

Potion & Minimum Magic Req.Ranking Notes
Twin Currents Potion
Island 2 – 75 Magic
• The buff is nice but you’re sacrificing a spell which is actually a DPS loss in this game since you only have two spell slots
Thunder Strike Potion
Island 2 – 40 Magic
Wood Splinter Potion
Island 2 – 30 Magic
• Simple early damage at a low cost
Earth Shield Potion
48 Magic
• Decent secondary and great support but it just doesn’t give you much offense for grinding and it’s low range
Ice Turtle Potion
52 Magic
• Ice Turtle Armor can be good for early farming but is overall bad since trading HP isn’t worth it later on
Lithe Potion
40 Magic
• Lithe is decent movement utility but that’s not very useful in this game unless they add some powerful refine effects

Rock Blast Potion
8 Magic
• The weakest damage and scaling in the game
• No need to use it

Wizard Alchemy Race Tier List

The best race in Wizard Alchemy is currently Thestrals due to having various DPS boosts for breezing through story and bosses. The A-Tiers are excellent alternatives for progression, just note that A-Tier (Conditional) need their specific elemental spells to be good. The B-Tier is for beginners while C/D-Tier are generally weaker options. Let’s dive into the individual ranking reasons and abilities.

Race Reroll Guide: Try to get at least Werewolf early for a quick little damage boost and then go for the A-Tiers once you get more rerolls (Use codes for free race rerolls which are linked below the tier list).

Best Race (Apart from Thestrals):

  • Ice Crystal: Get Frost Thorns, refine it and grind for Island 2 spells.
  • Stellar Ambassador: For any other spell that’s not Ice or Fire.
  • Fiendish Demon: Great early with Fire Arrow and then for Island 2 fire spells or Island 1 Dragon Breath.

S-Tier Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Thestrals
1%
• Thestrals is the best race in the game by far
• Has 3 damage boosts from Disaster, an elemental buff and an overall Attack Power boost making it the best DPS option
• Plus you get has mobility buffs and skill speed
• You just have to get lucky and roll it
• Gain an exclusive attack effect
• When you deal damage, apply a Disaster which is a damage-over-time effect dealing continuous damage for 5 seconds
• +20% Dark Elemental Damage for normal attacks and they transform into the dark attribute
• +3% Base Movement Speed
• +10% Jump Height
• +10% Attack Power

A-Tier Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Stellar Ambassador
4%
• Stellar Ambassador is more beginner-friendly than Ice/Fiendish since it has a general attack power boost and skill speed for high DPS
• Plus you get a movement speed boost for kiting mobs and bosses which is great mobility and utility
• That said note that Crystal/Demon are better with their signature spells (See below)
• When you deal damage gain a burst of movement speed
• +20 Skill Speed
• +10% Attack Power
Death Eater
10%
• Fiendish and Ice Crystal are much better than Death Eater if you’re using their spells (See below)
• That said, if not, Death Eater has amazing sustain for solo farming
• Plus Death Eater has a general damage boost rather than a specific Elemental one which can be more useful early on
• Restores 5% Max HP upon killing an enemy
• HP regeneration speed is halved
• +10% Attack Power

A-Tier (Conditional) Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Ice Crystal
5%
• Use with Frost Thorns and it’s high A-Tier
• Fiendish Demon and Ice Crystal are very similar in that they require you to use their element to be good
• If you’re using Fire or Ice they deal drastically more damage than Death Eater and Stellar
• +20% Ice Elemental Damage
• -2 Base Movement Speed
• +10% Max HP
Fiendish Demon
5%

• Use with Dragon Breath and it’s high A-Tier
• Same ranking reason as Fiendish Demon but Ice is a bit better since Frost Thorns is a faster spell
• That said Dragon Breath is still one of the best spells in the game so you can’t go wrong
• +20% Fire Elemental Damage
• +2 Base Movement Speed
• -10% Max HP

B-Tier Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Werewolf
10%
• Werewolf is a decent beginner race since you get a little bit of everything
• Some HP for tanking, some damage and some mobility
• That said it gets outscaled by all the races above
• Still better than all C/D-Tier races
• +10% Max HP
• +5 Attack Power
• +1 Base Movement Speed
• +10 Jump Height

C-Tier Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Undead
10%
• Undead isn’t as bad as D-Tier races but isn’t as useful as it sounds since if you’re playing well you’re not really using the revive, leaving you with no ability
• The skill speed is nice for DPS but overall there are better options
• Upon receiving fatal damage, retain 1 HP and enter a short invincibility state as you restore 30% Max HP (Cooldown: 180s)
• -30% Max HP
• +10 Skill Speed

D-Tier Races

RaceRanking ReasonRace Abilities
Tree Spirit
15%
• Great early if you’re not getting lucky with higher-rarity races but replace it ASAP• Doubled HP regeneration speed
• -2 Base Movement Speed
• +5% Max HP
Elf
15%
• Virtually useless• +3 Base Movement Speed
• +10 Jump Height
Human
Starting Race / 25%
• Useless• No buffs
