The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf had its kneecaps shattered quite some time ago, putting paid to the idea of console gamers getting their hands on Geralt’s sex-fueled RPG adventure. However, while the game is gone, it’s certainly not forgotten, with CD Projekt still keen on revisiting it.
“It definitely is considered. No particular plans though,” says Witcher 2 senior producer Tomak Gop. “The project is frozen – lies on a shelf awaiting the right moment. The only thing I could state for sure is that we’d love to pick this project up again.”
The Witcher 2 is being developed for consoles, but Gop seems to advise caution even when counting on that: “Nothing has been promised yet. Nothing has been shown yet. But everything is kept well secret and planned for.”
Well, that didn’t sound foreboding or anything, did it? We shall have to wait and see if The Witcher will ever hit a home console. In any case, I’m looking forward to The Witcher 2 and just hope they iron out the kinks in this one. The first Witcher was good, but the bugs really held it back.
