Will demo progress transfer to the full game in Octopath Traveler 2?

Get a head start on your adventure

The Octopath Traveler 2 Prologue Demo is out and free for all to peruse. Once downloaded, the demo will allow you to begin your journey in Solistia with one of the eight protagonists. After you complete your hero’s respective story, you’ll be free to explore the other starting areas. You’ll even be able to recruit other characters and experience their stories as well!

The demo has a three-hour time limit, so you’ll most likely explore a small handful of areas before your time expires. There are ways to slightly circumvent this limitation, but once the game says times up, you can’t play anymore. Naturally, you might be wondering if your demo progress will carry over to the full game, or if your time in the demo will be in vain. Fortunately, we have good news.

Carry over that demo progress!

We have official confirmation that your Octopath Traveler 2 Prologue Demo data will carry over to the full game. As long as you purchase the title on the same platform you played the demo on, you should be good to go. When the time on your demo expires, you’ll see a prompt to save your game specifically to carry over to the full game. Take this opportunity!

Some players have opted to replay the demo until they optimize their demo file to transfer to the full game. However, I say don’t worry about this too much. Octopath Traveler 2 is best experienced if you can relax and play at your own pace. Enjoy the demo at your leisure and uncover as many secrets as you can find. You’ll have plenty of time to recruit the rest of the characters in the full game.
