Nick Chester is traveling today, so I present this week’s offerings on WiiWare and Virtual Console in his absence.
First off, we get Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points) on the VC. This top-down, Commando-style shooter was based on an arcade game and is actually quite a bit of fun, if a bit hard. It also features an original mode which allows you to choose between five different mercenaries to play through as. What it lacks is a multiplayer mode, which is a bit disappointing, but it’s still a solid game.
More interesting is this week’s addition to WiiWare. LIT (WayForward Technologies, 1 player, 800 Wii Points) is an action-horror title in which two high school students become trapped in a nightmarish version of their school. Using the various sources of light available in each classroom, players must create a path through the darkness for the protagonist, Jake, while contending with twisted versions of the school faculty. It features over thirty level and multiple gameplay modes.
Are either of these intriguing to you?
