Wii Shop Update: Snowboard Riot, LONPOS, and Sonic Chaos

Recommended Videos

Nintendo continues its one-two combo this week with its Wii Shop releases. That is to say there’s one Virtual Console release, and two original WiiWare titles on the service today. POW!

Sega’s Sonic Chaos (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) makes it Virtual Console debut, and yay! A 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game! Remember when Sonic games used to be “good”? Yeah, I miss that to. Sonic Chaos ain’t bad, either; in fact, I’d say it’s one of the better 2D Sonic games. Oh, and you can be Tails OMG!

Nintendo finally brings the puzzler LONPOS (1-4 players, 800 Wii Points) to North America, and fans of putting things into holes should be excited. A popular game of logic, LONPOS has you placing Pentominoes on a rectangular space, trying to fill the field completely. This WiiWare version of LONPOS supports Wi-fi, so you can download new puzzles, backgrounds, and see how stupid you are compared to other players (read: leaderboards).

You’re going to want to bust out the Wii Balance Board for Snowboard Riot (Hudson Entertainment, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points), because well, the game supports it. And if a game supports it, you’re going to want to use it, because God knows you’ve been too lazy to exercise. Snowboard Riot is just what you’d expect, a snowboard racing and battle title. Unlike other snowboard titles that support the Balance Board, this game lets you use missiles. Check out our preview to see if this is relevant to your interests.

Spending any money Wii Points this week?
