Nintendo has announced that a new Wii bundle is coming May 15th with an MSRP of $149.99, confirming rumors from yesterday. The Wii will be available in white or black and comes packaged with Mario Kart Wii and a matching steering wheel accessory, in addition to the console and a remote. This also means that there will now be a black Wii steering wheel accessory available separately, which will retail for $9.99.
Similarly confirmed is the new “Nintendo Selects” line, which will include Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers and the formerly-bundled Wii Sports for $19.99 each.
There you have it. I wonder how long the retailers have known the full story. There were a lot of retailer price reductions a couple of weeks ago but they only went a little more than halfway to where we’ll be on the 15th. Now a bundle comes along with (arguably) better pack-ins for another twenty off but, as it has a new SKU, they would have no commitment to price adjust. Of course, there’s still probably a few days left on a 30-day return policy if people were pissed off about this.
I wonder how many they’ll get back.
