It’s no secret that Nintendo puts a lot of love into their games, but I had no idea they had gone this far with my favorite mascot racer, Mario Kart: Double Dash.

Thanks to another informative video from the folks over at GameXplain, much of the subtle nuances that were put into the Double Dash have been brought to light. I always knew the world shared locations from my favorite 3D Mario, Super Mario Sunshine (man I loved the GameCube), but to think much of the world is connected and can be seen within each track is a credit to Nintendo’s past design.

Here’s hoping Mario Kart 8 commands just as much attention to detail.
