‘Who hasn’t wanted to run and own a DQ?’ Um, me?

There’s a Dairy Queen game.

If you were to drive on a certain highway in Texas, you’d notice that every town you pass through has a Dairy Queen in it. Is that a good thing? I don’t know. The occasional Chicken Fingers Basket is nice now and then, but the rest is not so hot. Their soft serve is like sugar milk. One time, in honor of the famed Porkchop Sandwiches viral video (after the jump), I tried Dairy Queen’s limited time version. Breaded cardboard, I tell ya. Somehow, the Peppermint Chip Blizzard is great, though.

Oh yeah, the game. It’s called DQ Tycoon. It’s like Cake Mania or Diner Dash, but in a DQ joint. Are you wondering who will play this? A piece on the game from The New York Times lays it out:

“My understanding is, it’s a lot of these stay-at-home moms who, when they put their kids down for a nap, like to go play,” said Jill Anderson, senior marketing manager for Dairy Queen. “We were kind of hypothesizing that if at one point they had worked, they were looking for that stimulus.”

Wow. Way to talk it up!

Michael Keller, the chief brand officer of Dairy Queen International, said “Oh, come on, who hasn’t wanted to run and own a DQ?”

I’m playing the demo now, Mike. It’s about as fun as a melted Blizzard with a hair in it.

[Thanks, AB]
