When do you get Cait Sith in FF7 Rebirth?

Meow meow.

Cait Sith, the anthropomorphic cat riding a fat moogle, has a cameo in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Marketing has shown the character as playable in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but when do they join your party?

Like in the original Final Fantasy VII, Cait Sith first appears when the party visits the Golden Saucer. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, this occurs in Chapter 8. However, he tags along passively for a while and eventually joins the party at the beginning of Chapter 9.

Cait Sith is an interesting party member. Unlike the PS1 version where the cat is rarely seen without his moogle, the Cait Sith in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth enters combat without it initially. In order to summon the Moogle, you are required to use an ability. This changes his combat style considerably.

However, the Moogle has its own health bar. Once it depletes, it disappears. To resummon it, you must again use the ā€œLetā€™s Rideā€ ability.

So, just to reiterate, Cait Sith joins as a playable party member at the beginning of Chapter 9.
