Today we’ve got a few new items on the Minecraft front, which means I have yet another excuse to write more about a game some of you are probably sick of hearing mentioned. One of these days we’ll convert you to the cause. One of these days.
First up, biomes! Biomes are being introduced as part of the Halloween update, and designer Markus Persson has posted a test video of what they currently look like. “Monster spawning and terrain features can be tied to individual biomes, so some biomes could get special trees, or special mobs, or different grass, to make them all more unique,” he writes.
So, it’s like real life, only blockier. Got it. Next up, word has gotten out that artist Deadmau5 digs Minecraft. Here’s a video of him attempting to get a pig into a cart. Highly adorable stuff. Anyway, this led to a recent tweet by Persson: “Woohoo! @deadmau5 wants to make music for Minecraft! 😀 Mixed in with C418’s stuff? Hidden track? Trailer music? Nobody knows yet!”
