This is my island in the sun
So for many moons, The Industry’s Chris Moyse has used Saturday mornings as a chance to welcome you all in from a long, hard-working week, while singing promises of an exciting weekend ahead… Yeah… So this week in particular, and perhaps for the foreseeable future, this may not apply. Like me, I’m sure many of you are currently sequestered in your homesteads, following the smart advice of staying indoors, where you are safe from the germs meandering outside, and aren’t potentially putting yourself and others at risk, or adding to the burden on our heroic healthcare workers.
It feels a bit weird, right? Yeah, I know it does. But I read somewhere that if everything feels normal, then you’re doing it wrong. The fact is that we’re all in this together, and it’s probably going to be “a bit weird” for a while. Until things get better, we press on, supporting those that need us, keeping ourselves fit and healthy (well, healthy at any rate) and finding the small joys in these troubled but temporary – and I emphasise temporary – times.
Despite having not left the house in days, I’ve found little time for gaming, work has been pretty hefty this week, as PR companies blast out news to a glued-to-the-screen global internet community. Aside from winding up the vigilante action of Neon City Riders, I tried desperately to sink back into Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which I’m enjoying, but keeps slipping away from me. Hopefully I’ll find my groove – or at least a spare few hours – soon.
What have all y’all been playing this week? If my Twitter feed (THAT YOU SHOULD FOLLOW) is to be believed, the whole world is substituting reality for the wonderful world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is lovely. Many of you are also pulling the heads off of unholy monsters in Doom: Eternal, which is lovely. However you’re spending your gaming hours, drop us a line below and let us in on the action.
I said it before, and it bears repeating. I know for some of us, myself included, the distancing from our pals can get a little rough. But just remember that you are among friends here. Our community is the smallest grace right now, but you’re very welcome in it, bucko.
Have a restful and safe weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.
