What we thought was a Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem crossover is ‘an entirely new experience’

A new thing with hints of both series

Nintendo showed off some weird Japanese idol game during its digital event. I figured it was not Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, just like last time they showed what ended up indeed being Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. Except!

Now it seems like Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem doesn’t exist? Instead it’s a new game with loose inspirations from both series.

Right now it’s called Genei Ibun Roku #FE — that’s “FE” for Fire Emblem and a “sharp” music sign — or actually #GIRFE on twitter. Nintendo just had it up on the Treehouse and is tweeting about it, “isn’t necessarily a Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem crossover – it’s an entirely new experience.”

It is a completely turn-based game, as seen below. “Music plays a large part in . The songs and dances were created with well known Japanese songwriters and choreographers.,” too.

The game [was] being shown off live below.
