Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies skulls and bones

What are skulls and bones in Call of Duty MW3?

Why am I going to do with all these skulls and bones?

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 recently received a massive season two update, which includes skulls and bones. The new collectibles are part of a limited-time event called Horde Hunt. As you might expect from the title and theme, the event is part of the Zombies game mode.

Bones are easier to find and collect than skulls in Modern Warfare 3‘s season two limited-time event. Because bones drop from regular zombies, as seen in Zombies modes, multiplayer, and on Fortune’s Keep in Warzone, they’re very common. Skulls on the other hand are a little more rare. That’s because they only drop from specialized zombies, like armored zombies.

Additionally, your loot is not your own. As such, it’s actually easier to find these collectibles while playing solo zombies mode, since every skull and bone will be for you. The same goes for multiplayer modes, like Hordepoint. Earning kills isn’t enough to get the drops, which you’ll share with other players. Although the multiplayer game modes are likely more fun, they’re certainly not the optimal way to get skulls and bones. Other players will be constantly trying to steal your loot, which can be frustrating.

Collect skulls and bones in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Skulls and bones in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3‘s season two Horde Hunt event are used to unlock cosmetics.

  • Armored zombies drop skulls, and collecting 600 unlocks the Tiny Screams charm.
  • Hellhound kills will get you the Dogs of Hell calling card, which isn’t available until February 14.
  • Mimic kills give players the Cursed Ammo item, which isn’t available until February 21.

Each is unique to this season and this particular event, so the exclusivity might be worthwhile. However, they aren’t weapon camos or anything over-the-top, so if it seems too much of a hassle, don’t sweat it.
