JAK Limb Ripper conversion kit in Modern Warfare 3

What are Conversion Kits in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3?

Faster rate of fire, a better optic, or...a chainsaw?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, like many of the franchise’s installments before it, has loads of weapons and attachments. It can get a bit confusing keeping track of what everything does. A newer item for some weapons is the Conversion Kit. A few new ones were introduced with the recent season two update. What are Conversion Kits and should you be using them?

What is a Conversion Kit in MW3?

Conversion Kits in Call of Duty are exactly what they sound like. They convert a weapon into something else. We’re not using hyperbole here, as they literally transform a pistol into an SMG, for example. One caveat is that the weapon you’re applying the Conversion Kit to has to be max level. So don’t expect to pull out a brand new, unleveled weapon and change it to something else. Using one of these kits requires unlocking it and leveling up the weapon it’s used on as high as possible.

Conversion Kits can change the way a gun fires, add unique optics you can’t get elsewhere, or even add a fancy underbarrel weapon. With the season two update, players can now unlock the JAK Limb Ripper under-barrel conversion kit, which puts a chainsaw on your gun.

With its most recent update, Modern Warfare 3 gained a host of new weapons, attachments, and Conversion Kits. However, like most things in CoD, they’re not available without putting in some work.

Here’s what you’ll have to do to unlock them:

  • JAK Burnout for the Holger 26 – This aftermarket part is available through the season two battle pass. It adds a select fire mode to the Holger 26, which dramatically increases the fire rate but increases bullet spread.
  • JAK Tyrant .762 Kit for the Longbow – Unlocked by completing a week one weekly challenge. This Conversion Kit swaps out the receiver and magazine so the weapon can accommodate .762 BLK ammo to increase power.
  • JAK Limb Ripper – The chainsaw under barrel attachment is unlocked by completing a week two weekly challenge. It’s usable on more than one gun, and is the closest thing we have to a new Gears of War game right now.
  • JAK Backsaw Kit for the Holger 556 – Unlocked through a season two weekly challenge. It’s a Conversion Kit that makes the Holger 556 lighter and more maneuverable by completely removing the stock.
  • JAK Maglift Kit for the Haymaker – The extra-large drum magazine can be unlocked through a season two weekly challenge.
  • JAK Outlaw-277 Kit for the BAS-B – Get this kit through a season two weekly challenge. It turns the BAS-B into a lever-action rifle with better accuracy and precision at the sacrifice of fire rate.
  • JAK Glassless Optic – Also unlocked through a season two weekly challenge. It’s a clear and crisp sight for multiple weapons.

As you can see, unlocking all the new Conversion Kits and Aftermarket Parts is easy if you complete weekly challenges. Although they’re not difficult, weekly challenges can be a bit different from your standard playstyle, so be sure to check what you have to do to complete them.
